Romanian Ceremony Cultures

A marriage is one of the few days when romanian folks genuinely go all out and dress up. Fancy fits for men, dresses and gowns for women and attired tresses and precise nails are all the rule. The event is also a time to bring donations of money and provides for the bride and groom, which they collect as they leave the church and supper greeting.

After the bread is served a particular party romanian brides known as “hora” is performed. The wedding and all female visitors start to dancing. Men you subscribe but they have to compensate a small sum of money and the collected volume goes to the wife.

Close to the end of the marriage reception a custom is performed whereby the couple’s grandma takes off the marital veil. The wedding is supposed to refuse and ‘ battle’ against it ( three instances at least ) and then she is finally allowed to take off the blanket. This is to represent the transfer from a lady to a committed person who will take care of her spouse and coming kids.

If you are invited to a romanian bridal you can expect a very lengthy nights of dancing and eating. It is not unusual for the group to last up to 10 time and there are often 4 classes plus dessert. It is very important to wear comfortable shoes as there will be a lot of dancing and a lot of food and drinks served. There may be special occasions during the group too such as the single lady who catches the bridal flowers and the separately man who catches the garter.
